This is the web home of the Database Research Group at UM-Flint, led by Asst Prof Murali Mani of CSEP.

The purpose of this group is to provide a forum for researching, understanding, discussing and publishing about topics in the theory and practice of Data Management.

  Abstract: Web services have become popular for sharing data among heterogeneous systems. WSMS is a system that enables users to query over multiple web services in a transparent and integrated fashion. The queries considered are select, project and join. Topics covered are the bottleneck cost metric, pipelined parallelism, (i.e. arranging the web services in a pipelined fashion), the selectivities of web services, ordering of web services with and without precedence constraints and discussion of the algorithm to determine optimal chunk size.
